Servicing

Servicing & Maintenance

Planned maintenance that keeps the system safe, keeps the documentation current and catches wear before it becomes a callout.

Cantilever sliding gate at the entrance to an office and warehouse site

Powered gates are machinery with moving mass, and they wear. Hinges drop, tracks silt up, seals weep, photocell lenses fog and safety forces drift out of tolerance as springs and bearings age. None of that announces itself until the gate fails or, worse, until it injures someone.

A planned service visit checks the mechanics, the electrics and the safety devices, re-tests the impact forces against BS EN 12453, and gives you a written record. For any site with public, staff or resident access, that record is what demonstrates you have managed the risk.

We maintain systems on annual, six-monthly and quarterly cycles depending on duty and on who uses the entrance. High-traffic commercial sites and anywhere the public can reach the gate sit at the frequent end.

What this covers

  • Planned preventative maintenance on annual, biannual or quarterly cycles
  • Mechanical inspection: hinges, bearings, rollers, tracks and fixings
  • Electrical inspection, terminations and earth continuity checks
  • Safety-device testing: photocells, edges, loops and beacons
  • Impact force testing to BS EN 12453 with recorded results
  • Lubrication, adjustment, alignment and re-tensioning
  • Manual-release function check and operator retraining
  • Written service report and updated compliance log
  • Multi-site and managed-portfolio maintenance contracts
  • Priority response rates for contracted sites

Force testing every visit

Safety forces drift as a gate wears. A service that does not re-test and record them has not confirmed the gate is still safe. It has only confirmed it still moves.

A documented history

You receive a written report per visit and a running compliance log. That is what an insurer, a managing agent or an HSE inspector asks to see.

Cheaper than the callout

Most emergency attendances we go to are wear that a service visit would have caught. Planned maintenance is the lower-cost half of owning an automated entrance.
